We have some amazing people working at the Yorkton Nursery School Co-operative! Our teachers are responsible for every aspect of the class, from the weekly theme schedule to the daily activities for our students. Our teachers have created a caring, safe, fun atmosphere which allows each child to be comfortable and confident with their learning experience. The focus is to educate the whole child, emotionally, intellectually, physically, socially, and creatively.
All teachers that are employed by the Yorkton Nursery School Co-operative must have a minimum of a certificate or diploma from an accredited Early Childhood Education course, a teacher’s certificate, or a combination of education requirements and experience as deemed acceptable by the Board of Directors. All employees of the Yorkton Nursery School Co-operative also have up to date training in CPR/First Aid. Our teachers regularly participate in additional training, such as accreditation for Jolly Phonics or any other professional development that is beneficial for the programming of the school.
Mrs. Haider joined the YNSC in 2006. She teaches in the 3 year old program and is also the school administrator. Her educational background includes some university courses, and a Rehabilitation Workers Certificate. While she was a student at the YNSC, not too long ago, she played Mary in the school Christmas concert! She also has many years of experience in various fields including working as a teacher assistant, KidsFirst worker with the prenatal program, nurses aid, activities director for a special needs facility, coaching various sports teams, and raising her own children. When she was young her dream was to be Miss Teen Yorkton or, if that didn’t work out, a teacher! She loves spending time with our students, especially when they sing Slippery Fish together. Her favorite food at snack time is cupcakes!
Mrs. Wagner joined the YNSC in 2009 and teaches in the 4 year old program. She has completed her Early Childhood Education, Level 2. She was a student of the YNSC program as well, and although she may not admit it, we think she was the loudest one in her class! Her prior experience includes working as a summer student with PECIP, running a home daycare, and raising her own children. She always dreamed of becoming a hairdresser or a mountain climber but decided to become a teacher because she loves being around children! Her favorite song to sing with the students is the Freeze Dance and her favorite snack food is sausage and cheese.
